Ohio Valley Web Ministries was conceived and implemented by Kevin Lauer in July of 2003, as a division of Krusade Ministries. The purpose of OVWM was and is to support Christian churches and ministries as they seek to expand their ministry (ministries) onto the worldwide web.
Lauer, OVWM's founder and President, had been active in Christian ministry for over 15 years before founding OVWM -- 12 of them as a founding member of Krusade Ministries. He had served as a lay leader for 4 years, and as a full-time pastor of three rural United Methodist churches for 3 years before leaving the pastoral ministry to focus on "secular" ministry. He is currently active as the worship leader of a non-denominational church while working in the secular arena.
Krusade Ministries, OVWM's parent organization, is also the parent of the Christian Rock band Krusade, Godflower Records, and FSO Entertainment Group. Godflower Records is a publishing/recording company for independent Christian musicians in the Ohio Valley, while FSO Entertainment Group is a ministry providing recording services also for independent musicians in the Ohio Valley. Krusade is one of the bands that is a partner with these ministries.
